Terms: Key Highlights

  • Minimum age: 21 years (Sports and luxury cars: 23+ years).
  • You must return your rental car with the same level of fuel you picked it up with.
  • Return without car washing will result in a penalty.
  • Delivery and pick-up (one way, within Dubai) may incur a fee.
  • Salik / Toll Charges: 6 AED.
  • Desert driving or drifting will result in a significant penalty.
  • Smoking in our vehicles will result in a significant penalty.
  • In the event of a scratched wheel, the Hirer is obligated to pay for the alignment, balancing, polishing, and restoration.

Driver’s License

UAE Residents
All drivers with a UAE-issued Residence or Employment Visa must produce a valid, UAE-issued driving license that has been held for at least 12 months.

Tourists and Visitors
Citizens with driving licenses from the following countries may drive in the UAE using their foreign license with a valid visit or tourist visa only. Note that the original license should be from the same country as the residence visa of the customer. These countries include:

* Customers with driver’s licenses from Japan, Turkey, Greece, and South Korea are requested to provide a translation of their driver’s license duly approved by their respective consulate or embassy.

Drivers from countries which are not listed above may rent a vehicle as long as they have a valid International Driver’s Permit (IDP) in addition to a valid foreign driver’s license that has been held for at least 12 months.

Passport

For all UAE residents, a copy of their passport (photo ID page and visa page) should be provided at the time of rental. For tourists and visitors, a valid UAE entry visa along with a passport is mandatory.

Alligator Car Rental will ask for the copies of the passport and visa to be shared at the time of booking to avoid issues at the collection stage.

Payment

A credit card is not required to rent a car from Alligator Car Rental. We accept credit and debit cards, cash, transfers and cryptocurrency. Ask our managers about the convenient method of payment.

Smoking

Smoking is strictly prohibited in all the Vehicles. If the Vehicle is returned with smoke or any other unacceptable odor, the Vehicle will go through ozone treatment and the Renter will be charged 1000 AED.

Millage

Maximum mileage is set individually for every car. Please refer to The Lessor to acknowledge the maximum mileage for selected vehicle and additional charge for excess mileage charge.

Racing, Drift, Off-road etc

The Lessee holds liability for violation of traffic laws of the U.A.E. and the terms and conditions set forth in this Agreement in accordance with the legislation of the U.A.E. in force. Any consequences, such as vehicle damage, traffic accidents, personal injuries, etc., are to be solely covered by the Lessee. All vehicles are prohibited to being used for racing, drifting, towing, off-road driving, or any activities considered against U.A.E. law. The Lessee is fully liable for any damages to the vehicle, including contaminated fuel, water damage, or damages that occurred as a result of driving through flood water, sea beaches, rocky or sandy deserts, dunes, and off-roads. In case of violation of this clause, the Lessee is obliged to compensate all damages that occurred due to the prohibited use of the Vehicle and additionally shall pay fines (unliquidated damages) in the amount that covers all expenses of the Lessee. Driving is allowed on civil roads only.

Accident

In the event of car accident (with or without damage to the Vehicle), any personal injuries, theft of the Vehicle or any of its parts, the Lessee is obliged to inform the Lessor and forthwith report the situation to police as well as obtain a valid police report after provision of all required documents, information and following the police procedure. Copy of the police report must be sent to the Lessor. The insurance covers cases that occurred through no fault of the Lessee. The police report should confirm this. In all the other cases, including but not limited to an accident, damage, loss, thief, which occurred at fault of the Lessee, the Lessee shall cover all the expenses in the amount not covered by the insurance.

If the Lessee fails to obtain or present a valid police report to the Lessor within a responsible period of time, the provided insurance will be annulled, and therefore the Lessee becomes fully liable to cover all the actual costs suffered by the Lessor.

The Lessee agrees to be fully liable to pay the rental charges for the period the Vehicle is being repaired after being damaged due to road accidents or any other instances where the Vehicle gets damaged by Lessee.

Deposit

Lessee may choose the option of a deposit free rent by signing a separate Agreement, Rental Customer Consents and paying the surety fee only.

The right to repossess the Vehicle

The Lessor reserves the right remotely to switch off the engine and confiscate the car at any time without prior warning if it becomes aware that the Lessee violated the terms of this Agreement, in particular: transferring the Vehicle to a third party, failing to pay fines and penalties, failing to return the Vehicle for current or capital repair, or failing to return the car on the expiration of the rental period.

Borders

The Lessee undertakes to use the rented car only in the territory of the U.A.E.

If you caused the accident

If the accident happened because of your fault, you will have to pay the deductible from the insurance company. The calculation is done on an individual basis.

Rental policy

  1. The rental car must be returned with the same fuel level as at the time of pickup.
  2. Returning the car without washing will incur a penalty of 300 AED.
  3. Delivery or pick-up (one way within Dubai) costs 100 AED.
  4. Salik or toll charges are 6 AED per use.
  5. Lost or damaged keys will incur a penalty of 4,500 AED.
  6. Desert driving or drifting will result in a penalty of 10,000 AED.
  7. Smoking in our vehicles may incur a charge of up to 2000 AED.
  8. The Hirer must pay all traffic fines within 24 hours of issuance. Late payments will incur a fee of AED 100 per day, starting from the 25th hour.
  9. The Lessee is liable for violations of U.A.E. traffic laws and the terms of this Agreement. Any consequences, including vehicle damage, traffic accidents, or personal injuries, are the sole responsibility of the Lessee. The use of vehicles for racing, drifting, towing, off-road driving, or any activities prohibited by U.A.E. law is strictly forbidden.
  10. The Lessee is fully responsible for damages caused by contaminated fuel, water exposure, or driving through floodwaters, beaches, rocky terrains, deserts, dunes, or off-road areas. Violations of this clause require the Lessee to compensate for all damages and pay fines covering related expenses. Driving is permitted on civil roads only.
  11. The Lessor reserves the right to remotely disable the engine and confiscate the vehicle without prior notice if the Lessee violates the terms of this Agreement. Violations include, but are not limited to: transferring the vehicle to a third party, non-payment of fines or penalties, failure to return the vehicle for repairs, or not returning the car at the end of the rental period.
  12. Customers must return the car by the contract’s end date. Exceeding the return time by more than 1 hour will result in an additional day’s charge.
  13. In the event of a car accident (with or without damage to the vehicle), personal injuries, theft of the vehicle, or theft of its parts, the Lessee must immediately inform the Lessor and report the incident to the police. The Lessee is required to obtain a valid police report by providing all necessary documents and information and following police procedures. A copy of the report must be sent to the Lessor.
  14. Insurance covers incidents where the Lessee is not at fault, as confirmed by the police report. In all other cases, including accidents, damage, loss, or theft caused by the Lessee, the Lessee is responsible for covering all expenses not covered by insurance.
  15. If the Lessee fails to obtain or provide a valid police report to the Lessor within a reasonable time, the insurance coverage will be voided, making the Lessee fully responsible for covering all actual costs incurred by the Lessor.
  16. The Lessee agrees to be fully responsible for paying rental charges for the duration of the Vehicle’s repair resulting from damage caused by road accidents or any other incidents attributable to the Lessee.
  17. The Lessee agrees to use the rented car exclusively within the territory of the U.A.E.
  18. If the accident is caused by the Lessee, they are required to pay the insurance deductible, which will be calculated on an individual basis.
  19. Only 70% of the insurance coverage applies if the Hirer has a driving license less than 12 months old or is under 25 years of age. In such cases, the Hirer is responsible for paying 30% of the damage costs and the insurance deductible, as specified in the insurance company invoice.
  20. The Lessor will charge a fee starting at 800 AED for each instance of body damage, paint scratches, or wheel damage caused by careless or improper use of the vehicle. Unused rental days are non-refundable, and any remaining rental time and deposit will be forfeited without reimbursement.
  21. The Lessee is required to present the vehicle for scheduled maintenance (e.g., oil and filter changes) within three (3) days of the Lessor’s request. Failure to comply will result in a penalty of 10,000 AED, with the Lessee also bearing full responsibility for all repair costs and compensation for rental downtime.
  22. The Hirer is prohibited from driving over 150 km/h. Exceeding this limit will result in a warning and a 2,000 AED fine for the first violation. A second violation will lead to the Lessor disabling and confiscating the car. Any remaining rental time and the deposit will be forfeited without refund.
  23. The operation of the vehicle is strictly prohibited during heavy rains and floods. Upon a recall request from the Lessor, the Lessee must return the vehicle immediately, and compensation for unused rental days will be provided. If the vehicle is operated in water, the Lessee agrees to compensate for downtime and cover the full value of the vehicle.
    Customers who cancel their reservation 7 days or more before the trip will receive a full refund of the rental price, 90% will be refunded for cancellations made between 3 and 7 days prior, 50% for cancellations made 1 to 3 days prior, and no refund will be issued for cancellations made less than 24 hours before the trip.
  24. The renter is prohibited from driving over 150 km/h on highways, exceeding 120 km/h in city areas, or breaking any UAE laws.
